Logic Gates
Logic Gates
The name of this course is Logic Circuits (logic gates). The total hours for this
course are 4 hours, 3 hours Lectures, 3 hours practical, and 0 hours tutorial.
This course describes four main topics:
(NOT, AND, OR) gate.
This course covers construction, principles of operation, classification,
equivalent circuits, Teachers evaluation, characteristics and applications of
Logic gates.
The general objective of the course:
This course aims to give the trainees basic knowledge of construction, theory,
performance analysis and application of Logic gates.
Content analysis:
: Single Logic gates
In this lesson I will talk about construction features, types and theory of
operation of Logic gates, also the construction for Logic gates. Three steps
Logic gates.
In this part from this lesson I will talk about the Symbol , Boolean algebra ,
Truth table.
Logic circuits is a structure designed from a number of preliminary circuits
called logic gates and each one of these logic circuits can be represented as
machines contains on one or more of the input and one only for output
device. And at any moment can each device entry in the machines
accommodate the basic unit and one of the information is 0 or 1, and then
deal with this data to give the output circuit is 0 or 1 on the output device. It
Contains a set of logical circuits that perform some basic operations which
implementation repeated of execution a lot and too quickly , and these basic
2
operations are actually a group Of logical operations , so -called simple circuit
that these logical gates. Logic gates are therefore the decision making units in
electronic systems and there are many different types for different
applications.
2.2.1Kinds of logic gates
The basic gates are the AND, OR, NOT gates. The basic operations are
described below with the aid of tables in the following, called truth tables.
AND gate
The AND gate is an electronic circuit that gives a high output (1) only if all its
inputs are high. A dot (.) is used to show the AND operation i.e. A.B.
OR gate
The OR gate is an electronic circuit that gives a high output (1) if one or more
of its inputs are high. A plus (+) is used to show the OR operation.
3
NOT gate
The NOT gate is an electronic circuit that produces an inverted version of the
input at its output. It is also known as an inverter. If the input variable is A,
the inverted output is known as NOT A. This is also shown as A', or A with a
bar over the top, as shown at the outputs.
2.3.Didactic analysis:
I start the lesson by giving small introduction about Logic gates and the uses
for Logic gates in our life. The lesson will be deductive lesson because we
need to give the students the general idea of Logic gates and how we can use
the Logic gates and where also the benefits for it, then we will show and
distribute some Logic gates components to let the students see the Logic
gates nearly. After that we will show students the three gates of Logic. Next ,
some explanation about how the gates works . Next step is to divides the
students to groups and give the students a worksheet . Finally some exercise
will be done on the whiteboard.
2.4.Methodology Analysis:
I chose different methods for my lesson like lecture, power point, individual
work, group work, picture and classroom conversation. I use lecture because I
will explain how find the truth table of logic gates. I use power point because I
will show them some pictures. I use individual work because give them
activity. I use group work because I give them practical about logic gates. I will
ask the students about logic gates to motivate them .The materials I will use it
in my lesson are whiteboard, projector and work sheet.
