The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) would pray: O Turner of the Hearts, keep
my heart firm upon your religion. (Ya muqallib al Quloob, thabbit qalbee alaa deenik.)
[Tirmidhi] wa thabbit qalbee ala siratwikal musta
If there is something or someone you should be loving but dont, or there is something or
someone you should not be loving but do, then ask Allah the Turner of Hearts to turn your
heart in the right direction.
No one but Allah can change hearts; Him between Whose fingers are the hearts of mankind.

Gratitudes importance was emphasized by the Prophet when he took the hand of Muaadh ibn
Jabal and said: O Muaadh, by Allah I love you, by Allah I love you. Then he said, I advise
you, O Muaadh, do not fail to say this after every prayer: O Allah help me to remember You, to
thank You and to worship You properly. The Arabic version of this Hadith is the following.
Lets ensure that we memorize it and recite it after every prayer.
Allahumma Ainni Ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatika
Finally, remember that being grateful is not an option and being one brings us closer to those
whom we thank and appreciate.
1. The Prophet said: Whoever says it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the
same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it
at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.
O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshiped but You. You created me and I
am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge
with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have
bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for
nobody can forgive sins except You. [Bukhari]
