What are the principal mechanisms by which living things reproduce and transmit information between
parents and offspring?
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Given a handout, students will be able take the handout and go to the given cites, answer the questions
on the handout and put the information together in a power point with 40/40 points on a rubric.
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
Investigate the habitats of different kinds of local plants and animals (GGLE 0207.2.1)
Recognize that animals eat plants and other animals for food (GLE 0207.3.1)
Compare the life cycles of various organisms. (GLE 0207.4.1)

Technology integration: students will use the given cites on the handout to answer the given questions
about the specific animals and then they will put their findings in a PowerPoint.
Students will show a clear understanding of the life cycle, habitats, food need, and water needs of
various animals by providing visual representation in the form of a Power Point.
Academic language is not addressed in IDT 3600
This is a build from the previous lesson of the TV state standard 0207.1.1
This lesson will then be built and turned into a subsequent lesson of TN state standard 0207.4.2 and
students will see that parents pass along physical characteristics to their offspring
I am aware that the lesson will be differentiated for students who did not master the objectives and for
those ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of
this particular lesson.
Closure: at the end of class I will make sure everyone understand what they are supposed to be doing so
that they can finish their PowerPoint at home. I will them begin to tell the how this lesson will continue
into what we will be learning about animals in the next lesson.
