Required Materials
You will need to bring the following to class EVERY day:
CHARGED iPad
Notebook (if this is your preferred method of taking notes/doing homework)
Folder or Binder to keep any paper material organized
Pencils/erasers (yes, you still need them not everything is done on the iPad!)
Scientific Calculator (recommended: TI-34II)
Student Expectations
Be on time: Be in your seats when the bell rings and be ready to start class.
Be prepared: Have homework completed and ready to discuss/turn in, and have all supplies.
Take ownership: This is your class and your learning. If you have an alternate method of solving
a problem, share it! If you have a question, ask it! Never give up on learning new ideas.
Please be respectful of your teacher and your classmates. If someone is speaking, please
refrain from talking. Respect others ideas and know that EVERYONE makes mistakes - yes, even
me :)
Stay on task! If we are taking notes, take notes on your iPad or in your notebook. If I give you
time to work on homework, please do so. This extra work time is a privilege!
Keep a positive attitude! No one likes a whiner :)
Attendance
When you are absent, you are still responsible for all material covered in class and
assignments. Chapter packets that include blank notes and worksheets are available in Schoology
and can be accessed from home. If you are aware of an absence in advance, please see me in order
to avoid falling behind.
TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MISSED WORK. Come see me before or after school if
you need help on a lesson that you missed.
Homework Policy
In order to be successful in this class, the skills must be practiced every night!
Homework will be checked every day and will typically be graded on completion & effort. In
general, we will use a stamping system on your unit calendar.
**If you lose your stamp sheet, you will not get any homework credit keep track of
it! I will collect your stamp sheets before any quizzes or tests to enter the points in the grade-book.
LATE HOMEWORK IS NOT ACCEPTED (unless excused absence).
I may also give short homework quizzes occasionally to make sure that you are doing your best
work and putting forth your best effort!

Technology
Cell phones should not be seen in the classroom. You are required to have a scientific
calculator, NOT the one on your cell phone, iPod, or iPad.
When we are doing work on the iPad, please stay focused what we are doing. You should not be
accessing games and other apps during class.
If I see an iPad, iPod, or cell phone out during a quiz or test, you WILL be referred to
administration for cheating (Bottom line: Its not worth it!!)
Extra Help
I am available before or after school. I am ALWAYS willing to help anyone who needs it. You do not
need to schedule in advance for before or after school help. You can find me in Rm. 254, the Math
Office.
There is free tutoring available during school (and after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays) in Room 2 and you can always see them for help during lunch or study hall.
Our course Schoology page has notes and worksheet answer keys as well. (Do not just copy down
answers! Use these as a reference to check your work).
Extra Credit
There will be very few opportunities to earn extra credit throughout the semester. PLEASE do not
ask me for additional extra credit. Do your homework each day and ask for help if you need it
That is the way to earn a good grade!
Cheating
A zero tolerance policy will be implemented for any form of cheating. Zeros will be given to each
person involved on the assignment/quiz/test, and parents and counselors will be notified
immediately. This includes but is not limited to copying homework assignments, the use of a cell
phone, iPad, or iPod during a quiz or test, wandering eyes, or any other form of academic
dishonesty.
Bottom line: Do your own work! This is the only way you will learn.
What to do if you are struggling in math
Number one: Dont panic!! Come see me as soon as you do not understand something and we will try to
get to the bottom of the problem. Here are some other tips:
Look over or re-copy your notes
Do extra practice problems in your book
Make a formula/vocabulary sheet for each chapter and keep it handy while you do your homework.
This will also be extremely helpful when we review for the final!
Highlight homework problems you missed and try them again. If you still do not understand it, ask
about it when we go over the homework.
Use your classmates as a resource! You can work on your homework with a partner (as long as you
both do your own work!)
Come in before or after school or ask to meet with me to get help!
Research the topic on YouTube or Khan Academy. There are a ton of lessons online to help you!

I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you!

Please do not hesitate to see me for help!
