Grade One Homework

January 19th 23rd

All Homework will be sent home on Mondays and collected on Fridays
Sight Words: eat, little, give, night, where, there
RAH RAH!: Read At Home each night for at least 10 minutes from either Raz Kids, your
take home books or the Weekend News. Please color in the title of the book read. It is
okay to have your child read the same book more than once; this can really help with
fluency. Fluency- is the ability to read text smoothly, accurately, automatically and with
appropriate expression.
Word Work: Choose two of the activities below to practice your words this week.
*Play Build a Snowman with someone at home (similar to Hangman).
*Sight word Tic Tac Toe-Play with a family member. Make a Tic-Tac-Toe board on a piece
of paper. Instead of using Xs and 0s, write sight words on the board when it is your
turn.
*Have someone scramble the letters of your sight words and you can unscramble them
and print them properly.
*Eat Your Words-Build your words with mini-marshmallows, take a picture, and then eat
your words!
Math: We have been practicing Addition to 12. Using doubles is one efficient strategy
to
add two numbers quickly. Please complete the attached activity to continue practicing
adding with doubles.
Reminders:
**Skating-During the month of February, we will be going skating each
Wednesday. We
leave NMES at 8:30 and return approximately 10:30. Our ice time is from 910. Dates are:
Wednesday, February 7
Wednesday, February 14
Wednesday, February 21
Wednesday, February 28
Skates and helmets are a must (your child will not be allowed on the ice surface
without a
helmet) and the cost is $8.00 in total (this can be forwarded to your childs
teacher asap).
**Library-Please ensure that all Library books are returned no later than Friday.

**Winter Dress-Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the winter
weather
each day (snow pants, boots, hat and mittens).
