How to Create Recovery Discs

Create recovery discs immediately after your computer is ready for use because there are no
recovery discs provided with your computer.
It is recommended that you connect your computer to the Internet and install the latest updates on your
computer using VAIO Update before creating recovery discs.
To create recovery discs, log onto the computer as a user with administrative rights.
If the computer is not equipped with a built-in optical disc drive, connect an external optical disc drive (not
supplied).

Click Start

Click Create Recovery Discs and Start.


If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.

Read the on-screen instructions carefully, and then click Next.

Select the disc you want to use, and then click Next.

Insert a blank disc, and then click OK.


The process of creating recovery discs starts. You can see the current progress on the
screen.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

When to Make a Recovery


Recover the computer system in the following cases:
Your computer has been unstable.
Your computer has been infected with a computer virus.
Your computer system is experiencing problems which cannot be solved through

troubleshooting.
You have formatted the C drive on your computer by mistake.

How to Set Up Your Modem

(For models with the built-in modem only)


Before you start using the built-in modem, or each time you use the modem while traveling,
make country/region settings for the place you are dialing from.

Click Start

Select Large icons or Small icons from View by in the upper right corner of the window.

Click Phone and Modem.

Follow the on-screen instructions.
