Motivating Summary From Roberto Medina Book

Higher productivity in firms is not due to chance, but from employees working harder, more efficiently, and intelligently when they are willingly motivated. Motivation theories include Maslow's hierarchy of needs, which proposes that people are motivated to fulfill physiological, security, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs, with fulfilled needs no longer being motivating. Herzberg's two-factor theory and expectancy theory are also motivation theories discussed in the document.

MOTIVATING

employees.
Partners should be willingly motivated.

What is a MOTIVATION?

2. Self-confidence in carrying out a task
3. Needs satisfaction

Maslows Hierarchy of Needs Theory

-Abraham Maslow theorized that man have five basic needs
a. Physiolog ical- food, drink, rest and sex
b. Security- safety needs (freedom from harm, financial security)
c. Social Needs- love, affection, acceptance from peers
d. Esteem- positive self image and self respect and respect from others
