Study of Mechanical Properties of Luffa Fiber Reinforced With Synthetic Resin and Infusion of Calcium Carbonate

This study examines the mechanical properties of luffa fiber reinforced composites with synthetic resin and calcium carbonate infusion. The objectives are to create composites using natural luffa fiber and egg shell powder in resin at different volume fractions, and test their mechanical properties for real-world applications. Samples are produced with varying compositions of luffa fiber, egg shell powder, and polyester resin using hand layup. Tensile and flexural tests are conducted to compare the mechanical properties of samples made with 25% luffa fiber, 5% egg shell powder, and 70% resin.

OBJECTIVES
Over the last thirty years, composite materials,

plastics & ceramics have been the dominant

emerging materials.
The main objective of this project concentrated on
making composites using natural fiber luffa and
infusion of egg shell powder with synthetic resin in
different volume fraction.
Then find out their mechanical properties and
based on the result utilize this to real time
application.

TYPES OF COMPOSITES
MMC: Metal Matrix Composites(Mg,Fe,Cu)
CMC: Ceramic matrix Composites
PMC: polymer matrix Material Composites

WHY WE USE NATURAL FIBER

Renewable Energy
Low Density
Low Cost
Recyclable
Bio Remidiation

RAW MATERIAL
Luffa cylindrica commonly called sponge gourd
