Overall Comments:
It is important to mention that she also had the opportunity to learn the role of a Learning Resource Teacher. She is well aware of the importance of modifying and accommodating to meet the various needs of learners in
the classroom. In fact, she made connections with several of the students with whom she worked in the LRT role during the afternoon. Miss Bowen helped students to demonstrate their learning by providing opportunities
to use technology, or to give their answers verbally when writing was a challenge. Miss Bowen clearly understands how to develop and IEP using curriculum documents and the Psych-assessments. This knowledge will
clearly be an asset to her when she has her own classroom. It was truly a pleasure to work with Shelley. She is a natural born teacher who will be an asset to any classroom and school. Her willingness to continue to
learn new teaching techniques and strategies will only continue to help her grow as an educator.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

It is obvious that Miss Bowen strives to be a great teacher. She willingly accepted feedback and
reflected on her lessons to make sure that students' needs were being met. She attended inservices
about math strategies, and how to meet the needs of autistic students and behavioural students.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Miss Bowen is one of the strongest student teachers with whom I have worked. She has an exemplary
knowledge and understanding of the language and math curriculum, as well as how to develop lessons
to take students through guided, shared, and independent learning opportunities. Her lessons are
creative and engaging and always include a variety of levelled activities to meet the needs of ESL and
IEP students and also those students who need a challenge. Miss Bowen worked with a diverse class
with 4 ESL students, 5 IEP students, and 2 IEP autistic students. She was prepared each day with
activities and manipulatives to allow each of these students to learn and to become better problem
solvers. Her assessments and evaluations always matched with her learning expectations, and she
always provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their learning through a variety of texts
and culminating activities.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Each day, Miss Bowen strived to include a different introductory activity for each of her language and
math lessons. She used the Smartboard, visuals, video clips, white erase boards, challenges, and an
Easter egg math problem hunt. The students really enjoyed her lessons because they were engaging
and interactive. Students were also given the opportunity to use laptops and iPads to demonstrate
their learning. Miss Bowen used a variety of assessment and recording devices during this teaching
block. In math, assessments included small group and independent word problem challenges, exit
tickets, and a unit test. In Language, she gave students several opportunities to practice creative
writing, provided feedback, and then asked for them to completed a culminating activity. Success
criteria was developed with her students.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth):

Miss Bowen was well-received and respected by her students because she promoted a positive,
engaging, and collaborative learning environment. Her classroom discipline techniques were solid; she
was aware of off-task behaviours and always tried to bring students back into the lesson/activity with
an encouraging comment. When dealing with challenging behaviours, Miss Bowen always respected
students' privacy and would speak to them quietly. Her sense of humour was also a great way for her
to bring students back on task. I was especially impressed by the fact that she always went out of her
way to seek reasons to compliment a student on his/her behaviour or work.
