Google Groups allows users to create a free account to communicate through email lists and online discussions. With an account, a user can create public or private groups, search over 1 billion postings, and mass email group members easily. To create an account, a user visits Google Groups, fills out registration information including a valid email and password, verifies their email, and can then sign in to access discussion groups. The account homepage displays recently visited groups and tools to manage groups and messages. Notifications of new posts can be set up through email alerts. Introduction:
Google Groups is designed to help people communicate better through email and online
discussions. This technology is free for any user who signs up and creates an account. It
allows a member to create public as well as restricted groups. Furthermore, it enables
one to search and view over 1 billions postings by other members. It guarantees easy
communication with colleagues and group members with the ability to mass email with
only one email address. Also one can bookmark ( ) topics of interest for easy
identification and future access so you can stay in touch with your interests. There are
many uses for a Google Groups account like keeping in touch with your family, friends,
club members, and other organizations.

Procedure:
Creating an account
1. Go to www.google.com and click on Sign in.
2. On the sign in page, click on Google Groups, located on the lower left of the
webpage.
3. Once you are on the Google groups website:

Skip to ______ if you already have an account.


To create an account, click on New Members: Join

4. Once you are on the Create a Google Groups account page, fill out the necessary
information. (Be sure to enter a valid email address and a password that you will
remember.)
5. After reading the terms of service, click on I accept. Create my account.
6. An email Verification page with the following message will load up:
In order to verify that the email address associated with your account is
correct, we have sent an email message to (your email address here). To
activate your Google account, please access your email and click on the
link provided.

7. Sign in to the email address you used for this account.
8. After accessing to the email sent by Google Groups, click on the given link. This
link will directly take you to your Google Account. This page will look like
Picture1.

9. Go to www.groups.google.com and Sign-in using your email ID and password.
A screen similar to Picture1 will show up.

10. Your homepage shows the recent history of groups that have been recently
visited, a link to manage, edit, and add new members.
11. If you click on you group name, the recent topics that have been discussed
through emails will show up. Also to receive an alert every time a new message is
posted, you can visit: http://www.google.com/alerts?hl=en and set up an alert
system.
12. You can also do so using the My Groups feature. You can see the postings by
message summary, title, or view the entire conversation.
13. To find accounts or groups similar to yours or the ones that interest you, use the
search box at the top of most Google Groups pages. These results will show both
groups (green links) and postings (blue links) that will match your search terms.
14. To be notified of new discussion topics or postings of your interest, you can set up
a Google Alert. You can do this by selecting Google Alerts, located to your left
side bar in your homepage.
