INTRODUCTION

We have all heard about HIV/AIDS for so long in our learning journey. How many
of you have seen people who are suffering from the disease? There are many myths
and facts around the topic, which often spark an argument within the community.
The stigma attached to the disease is due to misunderstanding or lack of information
on the condition. You as the nurse in the community will be responsible for
provision of health education to your patients and family. The purpose of todays
lesson is therefore to equip you with information to give as health education to your
community.

Assessment of prior knowledge


Q: What is the difference between HIV& AIDS?
A: HIV is Human Immune deficiency Virus a virus that causes the disease Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome (a group of diseases)

Task: split into two groups and sit in a circle, discuss the following:

Assignment: design a health education pamphlet that you would give to teenagers at
school. The pamphlet should not be larger than A4 paper but can be smaller. Be
creative. The assignment will be a total of (50marks) evaluated as follows:

Content - 60% (i.e. 30/50) [accuracy, quantity, order in which info is presented]
Technical presentation- 40% (i.e. 20/50) [spelling, readability, creativity]
The assignment will count 20% of your year mark.

DUE DATE: 15 June 2015.....no late submission will be accepted
