Course Outcomes of Material Science Lab

The document outlines the course outcomes of a Materials Science lab course: 1) To develop an appreciation of materials properties building on prior knowledge, 2) To develop an understanding of chemical, electrical, and mechanical properties and how they relate to microstructure, 3) To generate knowledge of materials processing, production, and selection for engineering applications. It also lists the program outcomes for a B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering program, including abilities in mathematics, identifying and solving problems, designing experiments, and communicating effectively. It maps the course outcomes to the program outcomes, showing their relationships.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Materials Science lab (NME 351) Semester III

Course outcomes :
1. To develop a broad but detailed appreciation of materials and their
properties, building on knowledge obtained in Materials Science;
2. To develop a preliminary understanding of the chemical, electrical and
mechanical properties of materials, and relate that to their microstructure, in
a wide range of different systems, including metals and alloys, polymers,
liquid crystals, and semiconductors;
3. To generate knowledge and understanding of the basis of processing,
production and selection of materials for industrial, commercial and
engineering applications;
4. To provide sufficient background to enable students to continue with more
advanced topics in Materials Science.

Program Outcomes (POs)
