This document amends Regulation No. 26 which provides uniform provisions for approving vehicles regarding their external projections. It updates paragraphs 4.4 through 4.8 to clarify the approval mark requirements. The approval mark must be affixed conspicuously to approved vehicle types and include the country code of the approving country and regulation number. If a vehicle is approved under multiple regulations only the country code needs to be displayed once. Annex 2 provides examples of approval mark arrangements.

Paragraph 4.4., read:
"4.4.

There shall be affixed, conspicuously and in a readily accessible


place specified on the approval form, to every vehicle conforming
to a vehicle type approved under this Regulation an international
approval mark consisting of:

4.4.1.

a circle surrounding the letter E followed by the distinguishing


number of the country which has granted approval; 1/

4.4.2.

the number of this Regulation, to the right of the circle


prescribed

in paragraph 4.4.l."

Footnote 1/ read:
... 12 for Austria, 13 for Luxembourg and 14 for Switzerland;...
Paragraph 4.5., read:
"4.5.

If the vehicle conforms to a vehicle type approved, under one or


more other Regulations annexed to the Agreement, in the country
which has granted approval under this Regulation the symbol
prescribed in paragraph 4.4.1. need not be repeated; in such a case
the additional numbers and symbols of all the Regulations under
which approval has been granted in the country which has granted
approval under this Regulation shall be placed in vertical columns
to the right of the symbol prescribed in paragraph 4.4.l."

Paragraph,4.6., read:
"4.6.

The approval mark shall be clearly legible and be indelible."

Paragraph 4.7., read:


"4.7.

The approval mark shall be placed close to or on the vehicle data


plate affixed by the manufacturer.

Paragraph 4.8., read:


"4.8.

Annex 2 to this Regulation gives examples of arrangements of


approval marks. "

Annex 2
Replace Annex 2 by the following:
"Annex 2
ARRANGEMENTS OF APPROVAL MARKS
Model A
(See paragraph 4.4. of this Regulation)

The above approval mark affixed to a vehicle shows that the vehicle type
concerned has, with regard to external projections, been approved in the
Netherlands (E 4) pursuant to Regulation No. 26.
Model B
(See paragraph 4.5. of this Regulation)

The above approval mark affixed to a vehicle shows that the vehicle type
concerned has been approved in the Netherlands (E 4) pursuant to Regulations
Nos. 26 and 24. */

absorption coefficient is 1.30 m
