ACT Assessment Score Report w/ Composite:

The ACT (American College Testing) generates student scores in Math, English,
Literacy/Reading, and Physical Science (e.g. biology, chemistry, etc.) The ACT test
scores range between a 1-36 in all categories and in composite. An average of 4
sections generates the composite score. Writing is also tested and is graded
holistically using a 1-6 scale, writing is not part of the composite score provided
below.
Students take practice ACT tests beginning in their eighth grade year of
elementary/middle school (EXPLORE 1), another practice ACT freshmen year
(EXPLORE II), sophomore year (PLAN I), and junior year (PLAN II). In the spring of
their junior year students take the actual ACT exam for college entrance/placement.
The ACT and practice ACT exams are called EPAS at the secondary level and are
reported under that name.
Student expected gains per year are 2 points per year in the four content categories
(excluding writing) and a 2 point gain in composite. Writing is usually only taken
during the ACT exam at the eleventh grade year.
Example: A student at the eighth grade level might score an 11 in reading and is
expected to move to a 13 in his/her freshmen year in composite and categories.
