Use
ThefunctionsinthisFundsManagementcomponentsupportbudgetplanning,budgetexecutionand
allowyoutomonitortheavailabilityoffunds.
TheBudgetControlSystem(BCS)inFundsManagementisanalternativetoformerbudgeting.BCS
isdesignedtoallowflexiblecustomerspecificadjustmentstoallimportantfunctions.

ImplementationConsiderations
Ifyouusethe GrantsManagement componentintegratedwithFundsManagement,onlyBCSfulfills
theprerequisitesnecessaryforthis.Thisalsoappliesifyouwanttoworkwithfundedprogramsfor
theaccountassignment.TherequiredFMaccountassignmentelementsGrantandFunded
ProgramareonlysupportedinBCS.
SAPdoesnotintendBCSandFormerBudgetingtobeusedatthesametime.Therefore,menu
transactions,functionsandthenecessaryCustomizingareseparate.Thenecessarymigrationtools
areavailableifyouareusingFormerBudgeting,butwanttomigratetoBCS.
IfyouwanttousetheBudgetControlSystemasyouroperativebudgetingtoolinFunds
Management,youmustactivatethisintheCustomizingofFundsManagement,under Basic
Settings ActivateGlobalFunctionsforBudgetControlSystem(BCS).

Integration
AllFundsManagementmasterdataissupportedinBCS,aswellgrantandfundedprogrammaster
data.
BCSincludesanintegratedplanningtoolwithbasicfunctionsforbudgetplanning.Ifyouwanttouse
comprehensivebudgetplanning,youcanexchangedatawithSAPsStrategicEnterprise
Management.
YoucanuseBCStogetherwith PositionBudgetingandControl (PAPMPB).
The BusinessInformationWarehouseSystem(BW) isavailableasacomprehensivereportingtool
fortheBudgetControlSystem.

componentsthatcanalsobudget,suchasSAPControlling.

Features
YoucanselecttherelevantFMaccountassignmentsasbudgetaddressesandposting
addressesfromtheentiretyofthemasterdatacombinations,byusingthefunctionsofthe
BudgetStructure.
Budgetdistributionandtheassignmentofpostingaddresses,budgetaddressesand
availabilitycontrolobjectsinBCSdependonthemasterdatahierarchy,whichyoucandefine
asyouwishbyusingderivationstrategiesdefinedinCustomizing.
Customerdefinablebudgettypes,entrydocumenttypesandconsistencychecksinBCS
Budgetingallowyoutomaptherequestsofyourorganizationinthesystem.
Budgetentryandbudgetupdateactivitiesarebasedondocumentsandareloggedinbudget
entrydocuments.YoudisplayandmaintaintheseintheBudgetingWorkbench.
StatusManagementallowsyoutosubdividethebudgetexecutionprocessinindividual
budgetingphasesanddefinespecificuserrolesthroughdifferentauthorizationassignments.
TheBCSAvailabilityControl(AVC)componentisaflexibletoolthatyoucancustomizeto
monitorandcomparebudgetvaluesandcommitment/actualvalues.Youcanuseindependent
availabilitycontrolcheckssimultaneously.
YoucandistributebudgetdatabetweendifferentsystemsusingApplicationLinkEnabling.In
thiswayyoucansendbudgetinformationfromasendertoareceiversystem,whichwillthen
postthisbudgetdata.
Formoreinformationontheabovesubjects,refertothecorrespondingdocumentation.

Restrictions
FunctionssuchasRevenuesIncreasingtheBudget(RIB)andbudgetreleasesaresupportedasof
ReleaseEAPS2.00.AsofReleaseEAPS5.00,SAPalsoprovidescovereligibilityfunctionality
andsupportformigrationfromFormerBudgetingtoBCS.

Note
TheBCSreportingfunctionsarenotdesignedforcomprehensivemanagementreporting.Forthis,
usethe BusinessInformationWarehouse(BW) systemasofRelease3.0B.
SAPrecommendsthatyouanalyzeyourorganizationsexistingfunctionsandrequirementsbefore
implementingtheBudgetControlSystem.
