Grading Policy

Participation
10%
Bringing all assigned materials every day: instrument, mouthpiece, redds,
pencil, drumsticks, etc.
Playing at appropriate times.
Practice recordings
15%
Students will be required to submit an audio recording of themselves
practicing.
Practice assignments will be made in advance.
Recordings will be due every other week.
Ten points will be taken off for each day it is late.
CDs and recording devices will be provided by the directors.
Arrangements can be made with directors if you do not have access to a
computer/recording device.
Playing evaluations
30%
Every Friday there will be short in-class evaluations for each student.
Students will be expected to play in front of others.
Material to be played will be announced in advance.
Performances
30%
Students will be expected to participate in all scheduled performances by the
band.
Refer to the attached calendar for events.
Sectionals and extra scheduled rehearsals
15%
Extra rehearsals and weekly sectionals may be called by the directors as
scheduled.
These rehearsals will be mandatory.
Students will be expected to be ready to start rehearsal at the predetermined
time.
