MINIMUM PHYSICAL PLANNING STANDARDS FOR SMALL HOTELS
AND SELF-CONTAINED APARTMENTS
1.___ FIVE ROOM HOTEL ESTABLISHMENTS
GENERAL: Each hotgl should contain at least five units for letting. Each room

rooms for letting each hotel should contain adequate kitchen and
dining facilities, living and lounge area, receptionist area, storage,
laundry, bar as well as staff quarters with toilet facilities.

No guest room should be less than 190 square feet in The
room should contain a private bathroom of no less then 36 square
feet in area, Each guestroom should have at least one window

ventilation. The room should adequately accommodate two (2)
single beds 6°x3"x3" or a double bed 6’x3"x5"x0”, a bedside table,
cupboards, dressing table, a reading lamp and two sitting, chairs.
Kitchen fizes should be a minimum of 130 square feet for five
room establishments operating a kitchen solely for guests resident
at the hofel. The size of the kitchen is to.be increased by 40 square
feet for dach additional 20 persons to be,catered for. Each kitchen
is to bd equipped with stainless steel sink and reffigeration
facilities| for food storage as well as, cooking units for food
preparation, Running water is also prerequisite.
‘A minimum. area of 50 square feet should be provided for the
storage of food in the five room type hotel establishment. An
additional ten square feet must however be provided for cach
additional twenty persons to be catered for.
A minimum of 300 square feet should be allocated as dining space
solely for resident guests in the typical five room hotel
establishment, An additional 12 square feet is required for each
additional resident and or visiting guest. The dining area of a five
room establishment should accommodate a minimum of twenty
chairs distributed around five tables, of size 4-0" x4"-0"
A im of 100 square feet should be provided complement on
adjoining lobby area of not less than 80 square feet.

disposal system, shall be designed, carried out and maintained in accordance with a specification
approved by the Public Health Authority.
