Classroom Management Plan

This classroom management plan outlines rules, procedures, and consequences for Jessi Towne's classroom. The rules require students to follow directions, raise their hands, take responsibility, respect others, and make the teacher happy. Procedures are described for beginning and end of day, transitions, bathroom breaks, group work, and more. Positive behaviors are rewarded with Dojo points, praise, or prizes. Negative behaviors result in lost points, warnings, writing names on the board, parent calls, or principal intervention. The action plan aims to clearly establish expectations, rules, procedures, and discuss them with students, parents, and administration in the first two weeks.

EDUG 520 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Statement of Purpose
In our classroom, we strive to create a positive
community that promotes academic excellence and
maintains a supportive learning environment.
Rules
1. Follow directions quickly.
2. Raise your hand to speak.
3. Be responsible for your own actions.
4. Respect yourself, your peers, and your teacher.
5. Make your teacher happy.
Procedures
Beginning of the day
1. Students will stand in two straight, quiet lines.
2. Depending on which day it is will determine which
line goes inside the classroom first. If it is an odd
day, the odds will hang their backpacks on the hooks
and the evens will go right inside. Vice versa if it is
an even day. The students that are hanging their
backpacks on the hooks first just need to grab their
homework binders and other materials they need for
the start of the day. The students that went inside
first need to take what they need out of their
backpacks and place them outside on the hooks.
3. All students will have the homework from the
previous night out on their desks for the teacher to
check and should be silent reading or practicing their
cursive packets.

Standing in line
1. The students will be standing in two lines. One line is
odd numbers and the other line is even numbers.
Each student lines up according to his or her
assigned number, which is based on the students
last names.
2. When the students are standing in line, their voice
should be off and the lines should be straight, so
each student should be standing behind the other.
3. Each line has a line leader, who lead the two lines
back and forth from the classroom. When standing in
line, there is not a specific order the students need to
be in as long as they are in their correct even or odd
line.
Transitions
1. When we are transitioning from one subject to
another there are a few things that need to be
implemented:
a. The students voices need to be off because
there is no need for talking when we are
transitioning.
b. They need to put away the previous materials
and take out the materials necessary for the
next lesson.
c. If there is stuff to turn in, they can quietly turn it
in and return to their desks.
d. If they are at the computers and the next
activity requires them to be at their desks, they
need to stop and log off of the computer, push in
the chair, and silently head back to their desk

and take out the required materials necessary

for the upcoming lesson.
Bathroom
1. The student will raise his or her hand to ask to go to
the bathroom.
2. The inappropriate times of the day for a student to
use the restroom are any times during the school day
the students are in class. When students ask to go to
the restroom during instructional time, they have to
write their names on the whiteboard and lose 5
minutes of recess or lunchtime.
3. When a student goes to the restroom, he or she will
write their name on the whiteboard, grab the
bathroom pass (which is hand sanitizers blue for
the boys and pink for the girls), and put it on their
desk when they leave for the bathroom. When the
student returns, they will use the hand sanitizer on
their desk to sanitize their hands before returning the
bathroom pass to its original place.
Group work
1. G Gather supplies: Each group is responsible for
gathering all of the supplies needed for the activity.
2. R Respect others: Treat others as you want to be
treated.
3. O On task: All members of the group are on task
doing what they are supposed to be doing at all
times.
4. U Use time wisely: Do not waste time given to work
on a group activity.

5. P Participate: All members of the group need to be

actively participating in the activity.
6. S Soft voices: Talk at an indoor volume so all your
members can hear, but no other groups can
overhear.
End of the day
1. I will dismiss each table group to go outside and
collect their backpacks from the hooks.
2. Students will pack their backpacks and clean their
desks.
3. Students will be seated quietly at their seats ready to
be dismissed.
4. I will call on the table groups that have all members
packed, ready to go, and sitting quietly to be
dismissed for the day.
Consequences Positive Behavior
Dojo points (whole class, table groups, individuals): I
will give out Dojo points to those individual students
who are on task, participating, and have turned in all
their homework. If I see certain table groups are on
task or participating, I will give them a Dojo point for
the entire table group. If the whole class is on task
and being good, I will reward the whole class with
Dojo points. I have an online account and an app that
I can use to reward students with points. Parents are
able to see how their students are doing by logging
in to their parent Dojo account.
Verbal praise will be given to students who are doing
well in school, students who are on task, and

students that are participating in class.

Table points: Table points will be given to those table
groups that are actively participating in the lessons,
and table groups that are on task and following
directions.
Student store: The student store is open every Friday
at the end of the day. Students are able to use the
Dojo points they have accumulated during the week
to buy trinkets at various prices from the student
store. I only dismiss the tables that are the quietest
and follow directions.
Dolphin Pride Slip: If a student is displaying excellent
behavior, they may receive a pride slip, which the
student can put in a box in the office that will be
used to draw out names for prizes during the
monthly Pride Assembly.
Consequences Negative Behavior
Dojo points (whole class, individuals, table groups): I
will use the app on my iPad or online to take away
points from the class, individual students, or table
groups that are not following directions or staying on
task.
Verbal warning: If I see a student that is misbehaving
by not following directions or not staying on task, I
will give that student a verbal warning to be careful
not to do that again. If I have to give a student
another verbal warning, I will tell him or her to write
their name on the whiteboard to take away 5
minutes of their recess or lunchtime.

Names on the whiteboard: There are multiple ways

that students can get their names written on the
whiteboard. The first way is if a student did not
complete their homework, they will write their names
on the whiteboard under Recess Club. Those
students will have to stay for 5 minutes during either
recess or lunch in order to hold them liable for their
actions. The second way for students to get their
names written on the whiteboard is if they disrupt
my teaching time by going to the restroom during
class. Usually, it is an emergency, so I let them go,
but they know the price that they will have to pay to
go to the bathroom during instructional time. The
students will write their names on the whiteboard
under Bathroom. The last way that students can get
their names written on the whiteboard is for
misbehavior. After 2 verbal warnings, I will have the
student write their name on the board. The student
has to sit in with me for 5 minutes at recess or lunch
and we will talk about their actions.
Parent phone call: If a student is misbehaving
frequently, I will call the students parents in order to
talk about his or her behavior in the classroom. If the
student continues to misbehave in the classroom and
disrupt the class, I will have to call the students
parents a second time to brief them on their childs
behavior, and we will schedule a parent-teacher
conference in order to talk about other plans of
action.
Principal intervention: If the misbehavior of the

student gets out of hand, the principal will have to

get involved with the parent-teacher conference with
the student present in order to try and resolve the
situation with the punishment best suited for the
childs misbehavior.
