Mylegspushedoffatmaximumforce.Myarms,bulgingfromtheimmediatestrain,flewtowards
mychest.Myhandspoundedagainstmyrigidribcage,butIdidntfeelathing2.Iwasgliding
throughthetranquilwater,leavingonlypuddlesinmypath.Ireachedforwardagain,placingmy
bladesintothedepthsbeneathme.StrokeafterstrokeIgaineddistancefromthestartingpoint.

IfeltlikeIwasalone.Icouldonlyheartherushofthewaterbeneathmyseatandtherustlingof
theleavesinthetrees.Thewindwasagainstmyback3,flowingthroughmythickbrownhair.My
breathwascalmandsteady.

Mythrobbingmusclesbegantogivewayascheeringbrokethroughthestillnessoftheair.I
couldfeelmybackcollapsingatthecatch,pushingmybladesintothesky4.Asmybodybegan
