ASSIGNMENT # 1
Visit to the New Hall 12 Construction Site
A site visit of New Hall 12 structure, which is a reinforced concrete structure currently under
construction is already made. Mainly, based on the observations made during the site visit, you will be
submitting a group-wise report regarding the following discussion questions.
Q# 1- Describe the site in terms of plan, drawings and technical specifications of the building structures?
Q# 2- What are the design forces and the serviceability criteria for which the structure is designed?
Q# 3- What are the structural members observed in the site? Describe the construction methodology of
each of the members.
Q# 4- Describe the load transfer mechanism of each of the structural members as stated in Q#3.
Q# 5- Comment on the non-structural components in general and based on that briefly describe the nonstructural components observed in the site.
Q# 6- Describe the construction joints and expansion joints found in the construction site. Explain the
function of such construction joints.
Q# 7- What are the materials used in the construction site? Comment on the specifications of each of
those materials.
Q# 8- What are the shuttering materials used in the construction site? Also explain the other different
types of shuttering materials that are used in civil engineering construction.
Q# 9- Summarize the important points describing the superstructure and the substructure in brief.
Q# 10- Explain the procedure of production of the concrete. How the concrete was transferred from
batching plant to the desired location?
Q# 11- What are the safety measures being followed in the construction site?
