Derive The General 3D Heat Conduction Equation in Cartesian Coordinate System

The document describes a composite wall made of three layers - an outer brick layer 15 cm thick with thermal conductivity of 0.7 W/m.k, an inner wooden panel 1.2 cm thick with thermal conductivity of 0.18 W/m.k, and an intermediate insulating layer 7 cm thick. It asks to calculate the thermal conductivity of the insulating material layer given that the inside temperature is 21°C, outside is -15°C, and the insulating layer offers twice the thermal resistance of the brick wall.

Derive the general 3D heat conduction equation in Cartesian coordinate system.

A composite wall consist of three layers, an outer brick work 15 cm thick, an inner wooden panel
1.2 cm thick, the intermediate insulating material layer 7 cm thick. The thermal conductivity of
brick and wood are 0.7 W/m.k and 0.18 W/m.k respectively. The inside and outside temperatures of
the composite wall are 210C and -150C respectively. If the layer of insulation offers twice the
thermal resistance of the brick wall, calculate thermal conductivity of insulating material
