Title: Strategies for integration of learning technology with task-based

lesson plan
Abstract:
In this session, the presenter will summarize effective strategy of selecting
and using ever-evolving learning technology for the purpose of Chinese
language instruction aiming at high school and adult students. This
presentation will focus on how to integrate various technology/applications
into lesson planning so as to accommodate multiple learning styles and to
create a student-centered learning environment in which students will find to
be more productive and efficient in their quest of mastering the language.
Presentation Description:
This presentation will provide criterion for selecting technologies and
applications to be used to support authentic language practice and
assessment. The presenter will also demonstrate how to integrate learning
technology and applications into task-based lesson plans which feature
cooperative approaches and accommodate various learning styles so as to
create an interesting and learner-centered learning environment:
1. The presenter will provide a comprehensive argument that the 4C2A
Principle (i.e., Communication, Collaboration, Critical-thinking,
Creation, Accessibility, and Affordability) could serve as the
guiding criterion for instructors not only in selecting technology and
applications for the purpose of language instruction, but also in
sharpening students Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS, i.e., applying,
analyzing, evaluating, and creating) in Blooms Taxonomy in order to
complete the task assignment.
2. Using the 4C2A principles for technology integration in language
instruction and lesson plan designing could accommodate students
various learning styles (e.g., visual, aural, or hands-on approach). The
4C2A principle will enable instructors to find the right learning
technology/applications and design a lesson plan that allows students
to engage not only in quality solitary learning, but also inspiring brainstorming, team-working, and group discussion during the entire
language learning process.

3. Implementation of the 4C2A principle could make a task-based and


cultural-oriented lesson plan more effective for Chinese learners, for it
allows students to find genuine interest in language learning and to
establish real-life relevance. With the 4C2A principle in mind,
instructors would be able to choose the right technology tools and
design a lesson plan that students will find both fun and meaningful
while learning Chinese.
