Automate Light Control Using Computer Vision Toolbox in Matlab

Automated light control using computer vision toolbox in MATLAB is proposed to reduce energy waste from lights being left on in empty rooms. The system uses a program to detect people in images of rooms like libraries, laboratories, and classrooms. These images are processed to determine if a room is occupied, and an Arduino then controls the lights accordingly to turn them off when empty. This solution aims to organize light usage and conserve energy in educational institutes where lights are often left on despite changes in occupancy.

Abstract:
We all witness in our life that a lot of energy is wasted due to
unorganized use of light. We witness that the light is wasted in various places
for example if we take educational institutes like Universities, colleges,
schools etc. light is wasted in library, laboratory, class rooms due to change
of personals. So we present the solution to this problem in the form of
Automated light control using Mat lab. We developed a program to detect
people and we processed those images and then we used the arduino to
control the lights in the supervised environment.
