Trixies adventure
Woof woof! Bark Bark! Meow, Hiss! That was the first
sound I heard when I opened my eyes for the first time. I was in a little
crate with animals of all ages looking at me. One of them said Eww
look at that ugly bulldog! Its eyes are super red and its nose is all
runny!!
Yep that was my life every day, me and all the pets (except Lexi
she gets a whole buffet) would get a little cup of food. If we were lucky
it would taste like old lasagna. If we were SUPER lucky we would get
some scraps from the pound owner. Every day people would gasp at
Lexi (a pretty poodle) she was in the cage next to mine. People would
say things like Ooh! Look at that pretty dog!! (Of course they could
never afford her) compared to that ugly little runt! Every day there
was the piercing sound of hissing and barking. That is...until today.
Today was going to be the day that I have been looking forward
to for at least two months now. It was going to be the day that we
would be advertized in front of the pound. We were sure to be adopted!
Everyone was groomed and bathed. Right now we are being carried
out to our cages outside! I am so excited because I have never stepped
foot outside (it is not a 5 star pound.) When we got in our cages
everything was normal. No one looked at me, and when they did they
would cringe. Then all of a sudden, a little girl about four or five years
old with dirty-blonde hair and a gigantic smile on her face, climbed out
of her car.and I knew she was the one for me.
She walked around looking closely at every dog. When she came
around to Lexi, she smiled but I could tell that she was not interested.
When she got to me I wanted to impress her so I tried to do a flip which
I saw Lexi do once. When I tried to flip, my feet slipped and I fell on my
face. I knew that was it. I knew I blew it. She ran back to her mom. I
knew that I had frightened her off but instead she pulled her mom
over to my crate and pointed at me. That one mommy! she said
smiling. Her mom called over the nearest pound worker and they
talked a little bit. Before I knew it he was lifting me out of the stinky
crate and put me in the little girls arms. She hugged me and kissed
me on the nose and said I am going to name him Trixie! In that
moment, I was the happiest I had ever been. Until I decided to open
my big mouth.
I guess I was not thinking because I would never talk in front of a
person but I was so happy I could not help myself. So I sputtered best
friend in a quiet whisper. She was shocked for a second but soon
recovered and said Best friends little guy! My name is Amy! Sadly
her mother did not recover so easily. She screamed and hit me in the
head. As I fell, I just barely saw her running away with Amy!
The rest was a blur. I guess what happened was when the pound
owner heard the scream he ran to the door, but in his rush to get
outside he accidently hit the fire alarm! When the co-workers heard the
alarm, they rushed to let the animals out of their cages so they
wouldn't get hurt. I knew it was going to happen eventually. All the
animals jumped happily out of their cages and ran towards the gate
exit, where I was still standing in shock. It was a stampede! I guess the
dogs in the pound never liked me because the moment the dogs saw
me they ran as fast as they could. I tried to run but my little puppy legs
were no match for german shepherds. When they caught up to me
they barked, scratched and bit me.
I woke up somewhere next to a road. I was hungry, sleepy and
was hurting all over from the dog's vicious bites. All I wanted to do was
find Amy. Ok, I thought, Maybe Amy's scent is still on me! I just
need a dog that can sniff out Amy. This needed no thought at all. It
came to me like a snap of a finger. A hound! I yelled startling the
nearest man. I need to work on that. I sighed.
I had been looking for hours now and saw every dog except for a
hound. It was getting dark and cold so I was about to settle down,
when some big floppy ears caught my eye. As I came closer I saw it
was a hound. A big hound; a very, very big hound. At first I was scared
but I realized that I was doing it for Amy so I pulled myself together
and walked up to the hound. As I came closer, I realized I was his
size. This might be tough. I thought to myself. Umm hi? I said
nervously. Sup he said in a low voice. When he looked over to see me
I was so tiny that it took a minute or so to figure out that I was right
next to him but when he did he was rather nice. And how may I help
you runt? As I explained the story, he smiled and chuckled when I
asked him to sniff me. No need. he said smiling. Now I was getting
rather mad with him Ok. Look big guy. I know you think you are big
and tough but I have had a heck of a day and you don't want to be on
my bad si- It's ok. It's ok. Just one question.. was the girl's name
Amy by any chance? He smiled at my stunned face. She Is on the
bed crying.. Most likely because of you!
I followed him in through the dog door and into a little pink room
where a mom was hugging Amy I am so sorry Amy I guess my
motherly instinct just kicked in. I bet that dog never talked. It must
have been my imagination! It's ok mom It's jus- Amy suddenly
paused in shock. She sprang on the floor and scooped me up in her
arms. Best friends. she said in tears.
