Roger Fowler

Roger Fowler (British linguist and critical theorist) published extensively on linguistic criticism and the application of linguistic analysis to literature. Some of his major works include The Languages of Literature, Literature as Social Discourse: The Practice of Linguistic Criticism, and Linguistic Criticism. He also edited several influential volumes, such as Style and Structure in Literature: Essays in the New Stylistics. Fowler advocated for linguistic criticism as a way to systematically analyze the language used in literary texts.
