Do you have any brothers?

M: Dàjiā hǎo. Huānyíng shōutīng Xiànzài Xué Hànyǔ. Wǒ shì ML.

S: Wǒ shì Stuart. Jīn tiān shì fùxí kè.

M: Listen, tīng, and repeat, chóngfú.

S:We'll start with, That child is 7. 那个孩子七岁 nèige háizi qī suì.

M: Or, we can say, 那个小孩儿七岁 nèige xiǎohái qī suì. And remember ‘boy' and
‘girl'? nán háizi and 女孩子, or 男孩儿 nán hái'er and 女孩儿 nǚhái'er. And a little
kid is 小孩子 xiǎo háizi, or 小孩儿 xiǎo hói'er

S: So, tīng, and chóngfù these sentences using xiǎo háizi and xiǎo háir.

M: 这个小孩子很可爱 zhèi ge xiǎo háizi hěn kě’ài. Or, 这个小孩儿很可爱 zhèige


xiǎo hái'er hěn kě’ài.

S: Where is that boy? 那个男孩子在哪儿 nèige nán háizi zài nǎr? Or, 那个男孩儿在
哪儿 nèige nán háizi zài nǎr?

M: I don't know, wǒ bù zhīdào.

S: And we learnt brothers and sisters. xiōngdìjiěmèi. Now can you say, Mrs.
Deng, do you have any brothers and sisters?

M: Hěn hǎo. 邓女士,您有兄弟姐妹吗 Dèng Nǚshì, nín yǒu xiōngdìjiěmèi. ma?

S: And if you want to simply ask, Do you have any brothers? You can just say, 你
有兄弟吗? nǐ yǒu xiōngdìma?

M: And how do you say, I have one elder brother,two younger brothers? Hěn
hǎo. 我有一个哥哥, 两个弟弟 wǒ yǒu yígè gēge, liǎng gè dìdi.

S: And how do you say, Do you have any sisters? Méi cuò 你有姐妹吗?nǐ yǒu
jiěmèi ma?

M: Now reply, I have no sisters. Fēicháng hǎo. 我没有姐妹。Wǒ méi yǒu jiěmèi.

S: And can you say, I have no older sisters, but I have two younger sisters.

M: Very good. 我没有姐姐,但是,我有两个妹妹 wǒ méiyǒu jiějie, dànshì, wǒ yǒu


liǎng gè mèimei.

M: Good. Now let's revise ‘dad', which is, dui4le, 爸爸 bàba.

S: And ‘mum'. 妈妈 māma。

M: Now say, ‘father and mother'. Hen3 hao3. 父亲和母亲 fùqīn hé mǔqin.

S: And your 家人 are? …. Right, family members, jia1ren2.

M: And what is a 学校? Méi cuò. A school, xuéxiào.

S: And what does this mean, 他(她)是教师. Duì le. He, or she, is a teacher.

S: And let's finish with a brief dialogue. Tīng and chóngfù.

M: 请进 qǐng jìn.

S: 玛丽, 你好!你的家人都不在吗 nǐde jiārén dōu bú zài ma?

M: 都不在, 爸爸和妈妈都在学校 bàba hé māma dōu zài xuéxiào.

S: 你的父亲和母亲都是教师吗 nǐ de fùqīn hé mǔqīn dōu shì jiàoshī ma?

M: 是的,他们都是教师 shì de, tāmen dōu shì jiàoshī.

S: Get it all? Great. Xiànzài wǒmen xià kà. Zàijiàn.
