There are several native tree species found in Pune, India, including the cassia fistula, sugar date palm, which produces neera, Lagerstroemia speciosa, Nyctanthes arbortristis which is the state flower of Maharashtra, albizzia lebbeck, Bombax silk cotton tree, mango tree, Gmelina arborea white teak, Holoptelia Integrifolia, and the flame of the forest, butea monosperma. The Indian giant squirrel, Ratufa indica, is also found in Pune.
