ICE London Project: DB participates constructively in the
advancement of the Channel Tunnel regulations
The Channel Tunnel regulations are under revision in a
ICE Test Runs Channel Tunnel standard process as they are basically unchanged for
[13th-17th Oct] almost 20 years
Now technology has evolved significantly – the new
ICE 3 (class 407) will be the most modern high-speed
train in Europe, built according to the latest safety
standards
DB is ready to invest a multi-million Euro amount to
further adapt the trains to achieve optimal interoperability
with the safety infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel
In consultation with the authorities and Eurotunnel;
DB will draw up an elaborated safety concept for the ICE
First tests show feasibility of safe evacuation processes
of 200 meter long and coupled trains with distributed
traction
