EXPERIENCE The DePaulia Nation & World Editor, Chicago, IL [June 2010 - Present]
• Manage the Nation & World section of DePaul University’s award-winning newspaper.
Assign and edit stories. Design the section’s layout each week using Adobe InDesign.
• Created a focused dynamic for the hyper-local newspaper by unearthing the angles of
national and international news pertinent and relevant to the local community.
• Founded and write for a Spanish language column that covers offbeat angles to main-
stream stories. Created a dialogue between the DePaulia print and online editions by
providing translations of the articles online.

Café Magazine Editorial Intern, Chicago, IL [Summer 2010]


• Researched and authored articles that were published in the magazine including the
July/August cover story. Generated featured blog entries that were highlighted in the
newsletter. Built and wrote the magazine’s weekly newsletter.
• Fashioned an interactive media component to the magazine through the creation of short
videos and story mapping. Developed social media strategies to enhance site traffic and
reader engagement.
• Collaborated one-on-one with the publisher in developing tactics to increase the maga-
zine’s male audience.

Emiliano Zapata Center Computer Computation Instructor, Mérida, Mexico [Winter 2010]
• Designed and executed a computer computation course to a predominantly Mayan com-
munity that met three times a week. Recruited students.
• Led and taught the course in Spanish. Accomplished an understanding of Microsoft Of-
fice in the students who had never used a computer prior to the course. Stimulated the
students’ enthusiasm for computers and an understanding on how to effectively utilize
them to facilitate their community’s needs.
