The speaker describes finding her partner Billie in the bathroom with the water running after they had driven straight to the house. Billie enjoyed listening to Billie Holiday in the tub. The speaker saw Billie through a small opening with his eyes closed as steam rose around him. There was a popping sound when he was electrocuted in the water. The speaker sat on the floor and watched Billie with his eyes open but seeming unbalanced until she was later arrested in Vegas and brought back for questioning about Billie's death.

y in the bathroom, I mean we driven straight throw and I could hear the water moting so I knew he was in there. He loved the tube, ever since he was tiny he loved it. So he was there, the water falling up around him and lady Day, thats how he called Billie Holyday, lady Day, it was her nickname and he called her like that. Shes plaing on the tape player stormy weather and I went to the room, bathroom and I could see him there throw a litlle opening of the liner that he had pulled shet his eyes closed, steam coming up around him. He didnt show, I mean he couldnt, really from the shock of it I thinck from the recorder first hit the water. There was only a quick kind of snaping sound like the pop of a flashbolt and a softer sound of he, billie as he kicked a second or two in the water. I turned the taps off a litlle later and I sat there on the linoleum and I watched him. His eyes opened so steel I thought I could see adichia, thats it, thats the word I was tring, the world out of balance, thats the one, adichia, you can look it up if you want to but Im sure thats it. I knew it would come here if I sat long enough. The rest you know. I was picked up in Vegas at a restaurant, youre aware of that though obviously and brought back here and thats it. Its what you wanted to know, right? Yes, I planned it but maybe longer then you thought, right? Lots longer. I do worry about whats gonna happen with me, I mean

its natural alright? To wonder about things. I dont tell you whats been through is a day or the next hour, its him!
