1.Definition
1.1. Any sterile material used to directly cover the wound.

1.2. Can be made out of cloth, gauze, or any available


material.

Uses:
a. It is used to control bleeding;
b. absorbs fluids from the wound and
c. to prevent germs from entering the
exposed area.

1.Definition
1.1. Any clean cloth or material used to hold the dressing in place.

Uses:
- to control bleeding,
- it secures a splint,
- to immobilize and support body parts.

2.5. Application
- Apply snugly, not to loose, not to tight
- Tie with a square knot
- Check for swelling, discoloration and pulse before and after

application
- Careful (so as not to cause pain)
- Neatness (should look good)
- speed (done within a reasonable time)

3.2. It is easy to Tie and Untie
3.3. Neat with a comfortable flat surface
•Dressing and Bandages should not take precedence over injuries;
Manage the Life-threatening Injuries First…
•If other Injuries are identified, Manage them according to Severity,
Making sure that the most severe are Manage First…
