#7 Bonganay, Kristell Arianne 2A-Biochemistry Is The Velveteen Rabbit a fable, a parable, or a fairy tale?

In my opinion, I think The Velveteen Rabbit is somehow a little of a fable and a little of a fairytale. Its a fable because the story is composed of characters that are animals who act as human beings, therefore doing things humans can do. In English Literature, a fable is a succinct fictional story, in prose or verse, that features animals, mythical creatures, plants, inanimate objects or forces of nature which are anthropomorphized (given human qualities), and that illustrates a moral lesson (a "moral"), which may at the end be expressed explicitly in a pithy maxim. Its also a fairytale for me because in the story, theres a magical part. For instance, the part where the horse tells the velveteen rabbit that if he is truly loved by his owner, he will turn into a real rabbit. Magic takes place in the story. Also, in fairy tales, there is always at least one fairy or magical person that shows up, and in the story of The Velveteen Rabbit there is a Nursery Magic Fairy that turns the velveteen rabbit into a real rabbit. In English Literature, a fairy tale is a type of short story that typically features folkloric characters, such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, dwarves, giants or gnomes, and usually magic or enchantments. However, only a small number of the stories refer to fairies. The stories may nonetheless be distinguished from other folk narratives such as legends (which generally involve belief in the veracity of the events described) and explicitly moral tales, including beast fables. That is why, for me, I think The Velveteen Rabbit is a mixture of a fable and a fairytale.
