Career Research Paper Outline Directions: During the research process, you will be looking for information on each

of the following topics. Ultimately, your paper will be organized according to this outline. Introduction Definition of Career Describe what the career is (i.e., a teacher is one that teaches; especially: one whose occupation is to instruct) History of Career How did the career begin and how has it evolved over time? Education Needed For Career What is the highest level of education needed for the career and why? (i.e., high school diploma, 2-year associates degree, 4-year bachelors degree, masters degree, doctoral degree, law school, medical school) Certification Needed or Licensing Required Is there a specific test that one must pass in order to work in that field or other requirements that one must complete? Does one have to complete an apprenticeship? Complete background check/clearances? Participate in continuing education to maintain certification? Working Environment Describe the working conditions (i.e., desk job, highly dangerous, stressful, requires interaction with others, etc.) Duties of the Career What specific tasks must one complete on a regular basis within the career? Salary What is the starting salary or hourly rate? How does the salary/hourly rate increase over time? What is the maximum salary or hourly rate? Advantages What are the advantages of the career? (i.e., health benefits, flexibility etc.) Disadvantages What are the disadvantages of the career? (i.e., long work hours etc.) Job Outlook Is this career expected to grow? (i.e., will there be a demand for pharmacists); what is the job security? (i.e., what are the odds that one will lose his or her job, be laid off, how easily can an employer fire employees, etc.) Conclusion
