Definition
A multiple bar chart is a bar chart in which two or more separate bars are used to present subdivisions of a category. It does not show the overall total of a category, but illustrates the comparative total of each of the subdivisions more clearly. It uses keys to distinguish between one sub-division from another.

When to use a bar graph and when to use a line graph?
A line graph is better for showing trends and patterns. A bar graph is better for comparing periods - say February with September, because on a line graph a point can be missed in traversing the graph.
