Short a Word Sort Game

Directions

Cut out and laminate cards. Stack the cards facedown. Children take turns picking a card and reading the word. If the word contains a short a, children will keep. If not, they place it in a discard pile. Play continues until all cards are sorted. Children then record 12 of the short a words on the recording worksheet. Children can work alone or with partners.
