Solving Absolute Value Equations

Solving absolute value equations involves understanding that absolute value describes the distance of a number from zero, so the absolute value of -500 is 500. The absolute value function only includes positive values and zero, so the absolute value of -1 is 1. To graph an absolute value function, you plot the coordinates that result from plugging values of one variable into the absolute value expression and solving for the other variable. For example, to graph y = |x| - 3, you would plug in values for x like -5, -3, 0, and 2 and solve for the corresponding y-values.

Solving Absolute Value Equations

Solving Absolute Value Equations Absolute value is a value which describes how far a number is from 0. For example: 120 is 120 away from zero and -500 is 500 away from zero. So the absolute value of 120 is 120 and the absolute value of -50 0is also 500; The absolute value of 0 is 0, these all are the example of absolute value function. In the absolute value function the negative numbers are not included; suppose we have any negative then it is necessary to remove the negative sign from the number. So we take only positive values and zero in case of absolute function. And the representation of the absolute function is |. This symbol is known as bar. Suppose we have a value: |-1| = 1; with the help of this bar we get positive value because any negative value becomes the positive after solving the bar of the absolute value function.

It means this symbol gives us the positive value. Other representation of absolute value function is abs ( ); So we have abs (-32) = 32; it also gives us the positive values. Now we will see how to how to graph absolute values: We have to follow some steps for drawing the graph for Solving Absolute Value Equations: Step1: First we take an absolute value expression. Step2: In absolute value expression put values of one axis so that we can find the value of yaxis. Step3: After finding all coordinates, we put all values in the graph. Step4: At last we get an absolute function graph. Suppose we have an expression y = | x | + 6; Now we will plot the graph by using above expression; Step1: We take an expression: y = | x | + 6; If we put the value of x = -6 we get: y = | -6 | + 6; y = 12;
