HERESIES OF JIM BROWN OF SOVEREIGN GRACE AND TRUTH MINISTRIES Michael Jeshurun To "contend earnestly contend for the

faith which was once delivered unto the saints" means more than just preaching that which is truth! It means also to expose that which is the lie and those who teach it. [Jude 1:3; Eph 5:11] This article is written in response to the requests of many brethren who have been grieved with the teachings of a man who appears to preach the truth and is now being received as a 'sound teacher' even in some orthodox circles. The definition of Heresy according to the Dictionary is - "opinion or doctrine at variance with the orthodox or accepted doctrine, especially of a church or religious system". And a 'heretic' is one who goes about spreading such false doctrine! A wolf in sheep's clothing is nothing new! But as the days draw closer to the coming of our Lord, and because the old devil 'knoweth that he has but a short time' (Rev 12:12), he is taking great pains to tailor the clothing of his wolves to appear more and more like real sheep! NOW his wolves are coming out preaching the doctrine of Predestination and attacking prosperity preachers like Kenneth Copeland. But this is just the bait to lure the unwary! Because camouflaged behind these truths is the deadly hook which denies foundational truths of the Christian

Faith such as the 'Doctrine of the Original Sin', the existence of demons, and a whole lot besides! Much of the teachings of Jim Brown are not in writing, but in recorded format - in either audio or video tapes. So we shall just refer to the tape number and expose the lies he is teaching and at the same time counter these lies with the truth of Scripture! Jim Brown says THE BIBLE IS FULL OF LIES - THERE ARE NO DEMONS! ( Series - Doctrine of the Devil, #3030) More than once in this tape this man blurts out "the Bible is full of lies"! But he is quick to catch himself and clarifies by saying - "I didn't say the Bible is a lie, but that the Bible is full of lies"! To give you an idea of what he means by that, he says concerning the men who witnessed the exorcism of the 'man with the unclean spirit' and exclaimed - "What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him"! [Mark 1:27] . . . Jim Brown bluntly says - "They were lying"! Why would they lie about something like THAT? Because according to this heretic, there is no such thing as an 'unclean spirit' or demon! IT IS ALL SELF! He even tries to prove this with his 'Greek jargon' that 'unclean spirit' actually means 'unclean breath'! (Yuck) We were interested to know HOW he would interpret the case of the Gaderene demoniac and the casting of the legion of demons he was possessed with into the herd of swine (Mark 5:1-18), and before this tape is over he does talk about this legion only to say that Jesus cast 'SELF' into these swine! Please understand, that in this article we are not quoting Mr. Jim Brown out of context or deliberately misreading something to find fault with him. Please listen to the tape we have referred to and decide for yourself. However be warned that if you are a true child of God filled with the Holy Spirit, listening to this man's blatant lies and scripture twisting will not be a pleasant experience. To deny the existence of demons or devils (KJV) is to out-rightly call The Lord Jesus a LIAR, and charge the sacred scriptures as teaching lies!

The Lord Jesus not only spoke ABOUT devils, but he spoke TO them and they SPOKE BACK to Him in certain instances. And the Bible even specifies their names and numbers in certain places, like the 'legion' which was cast out of the Gadarene demoniac and the seven devils which were cast out of Mary Magdalene! [Luke 8:2] We know of only one other 'Christian' cult which denies the existence of devils, they are the Christadelphian cult. Besides them all Atheists and Humanists also deny the existence of a truth about which the Bible is SO EXPLICITLY CLEAR! The second and the most deadliest error taught by Jim Brown is "BABIES ARE BORN INNOCENT AND BECOME SINNERS ONLY WHEN THEY SIN". (Series - Predestination and Atonement, #2903) This is a denial of the 'Doctrine of the Original Sin' and the 'The doctrine of Imputation'. The preacher who teaches that men are 'born innocent' and only become sinners when they sin has understood neither the enormity of the FALL nor the Gospel! Andrew Fuller stated, "I never knew a person verge toward the Arminian, the Arian, the Socinian, the Antinomian schemes, without first entertaining diminutive notions of human depravity or blameworthiness." Said the well-equipped theological instructor, J. M. Stifler, "It cannot be said too often that a false theology finds its source in inadequate views of depravity! A.W. Pink writes - "where any teacher or preacher is unsound on these BASIC truths (of Total Depravity) NO CONFIDENCE MUST BE PLACED ON HIM ON ANY OTHER SUBJECT. If he is all wrong at the FOUNDATIONS, his SUPERSTRUCTURE IS BOUND TO BE FAULTY! A. W. Pink. Are babies born innocent without the taint of Original sin? Here is an excerpt from a letter to a deluded 'Christian' who was propagating this same error -

The wicked are estranged FROM THE WOMB: they go astray as soon AS THEY BE BORN, speaking lies. [Psa 58:3] Behold, I was SHAPEN IN INIQUITY; and IN SIN DID MY MOTHER CONCEIVE ME! [Psa 51:5] Oh but God made man in His own image and when He got done He saw and said that it was good! That is right, ignoramus, but the man that God created in His own image corrupted himself by sin! And in corrupting himself HE CORRUPTED HIS PROGENY, so that what he brings forth is AS SINFUL AS HIM! Have you not read And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, AFTER HIS IMAGE; and called his name Seth! [Gen 5:3] NOT in the image and likeness of God, but in his fallen image and likeness! WHO can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? NOT ONE. How can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? [Job 25:4-6] Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that ALL have sinned![Rom 5:12] Please read that again, cause I think you didnt get it! Death passed on all men because ALL HAVE SINNED! Have you considered O vain man that the only reason that babies are sometimes born deformed and some die in infancy is BECAUSE THEY ARE GUILTY OF THE ORIGINAL SIN?! If according to your delusion they were born righteous and are not sinners till your so called age of accountability then they should not die in infancy as some do! ONLY THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, BUT DEATH SHOULD HAVE NO POWER OVER THE SINLESS (BABY)! Here is a quote from Dr. R. L. Dabney, The explanation presented by the doctrine of imputation is demanded by all except Pelagians and Socinians. Mans is a spiritually dead and a condemned race. (See Ephesians 2:1-5) He is obviously under a curse for something, from the beginning of his life. Witness the native depravity of infants, and their inheritance of woe and death. Now, either man was tried and fell in Adam, or he has been condemned without trial. He is either under the curse (as it rests on him at the beginning of his existence) for Adams guilt, or for no guilt at all. Judge which is most honorable to God, a doctrine which, although a profound mystery, represents Him as giving man an equitable and most

favored probation in his federal head; or that which makes God condemn him untried, and even before he exists. When God sent Saul on a mission to destroy the Amalekites, do you know WHAT He commissioned him to do? Maybe you need to go back and read your Bible before making such dumb statements as you have. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, INFANT AND SUCKLING, ox and sheep, camel and ass. [1Sam 15:2,3] What a Monster must be the God you worship who commands the destruction of INNOCENT INFANTS AND SUCKLINGS who have not yet reached your so called age of accountability! O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and DASHETH THY LITTLE ONES AGAINST THE STONES! [ Psa 137:8,9]. Again the one that rewardeth Babylon in the above verse and the one who is happy to dash their innocent little ones is the same Monster God you worship! I know I am being sarcastic here. Sarcasm is a dangerous weapon to employ, but its use is fully warranted in exposing the ridiculous pretensions of error, and is often quite effective in convincing men of the folly and unreasonableness of their ways. [Pink] So are there billions of babies burning in hell? The Scripture is silent on this matter! Neither does it affirm that billions of BABIES are around the throne of God singing His praises! But the Scripture does affirm that at least one baby was born-again in the womb (The Baptist (Luke 1:15) and that some children like Samuel knew the Lord even as a child! But to take this and conclude that ALL BABIES and ALL CHILDREN are going to Heaven only betrays our ignorance and blindness! Be blessed! Mike! (end of letter)

Here is another thought on WHY God views the descendants of Adam (babies too) as guilty of the original sin - Now mediate carefully on this following verse concerning Jacob and Esau "(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, JACOB HAVE I LOVED, ESAU HAVE I HATED. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion"! [Romans 9:11-15] You don't have to be an educated theologian to see that God is dealing here with a SINFUL MASS of creatures! Is there unrighteousness with God? There sure would be IF He were to hate Esau before he actually did any good or evil!! But God views Esau IN ADAM as one who is guilty of Adam's Transgression! "By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon ALL MEN, for that ALL HAVE SINNED" (Rom. 5:12) And in Adam ALL DIE (spiritually)! [1Cor 15:22] "Holiness is not transmitted from father to son. The child of the most pious parents is by nature equally as corrupt and is as far from God as is the offspring of infidels"! [A.W. Pink] JIM BROWNS' WARPED VIEW OF REGENERATION! ((Series Predestination and Atonement, #2903) I was about four years old, I was this INNOCENT little boy, I didn't know my right hand from my left . . . I don't know what my first sin was, I was alive without the law once . . . " (by alive without the law once Jim Brown means he was sinless until he was four. In fact he asserts that when Paul said this in Romans 7:9 he was referring to his sinlessness as a child) He goes on to say that when he was six or seven that's when he first sinned and that's when he died (spiritually)! He continues -

"You have to be bought back to where you once were. You have to be regenerated. To reconcile someone is to bring them back to once were they were. If you regenerate a battery it was once alive. If a baby could go to hell, you couldn't be regenerated to where you once were. In regeneration God brings us back to where we once were (as babies)"! ((Series - Predestination and Atonement, #2903) THIS IS NOT THE BIBLES TEACHING OF REGENERATION! Regeneration is NOT as these heretics teach us - an act whereby God restores us back to our state as sinful children of Adam, but a begetting of God, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible seed, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever [1Pet 1:23] "Regeneration consists in a renewing of our nature. It elements us into a higher state than ever by man. IT DOES NOT STOP BY SIMPLY PLACING US WHERE ADAM WAS BEFORE HE FELL, for Adam was only a natural man, but in regeneration we become spiritual. 1 Cor 15:46 - "Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual." While Adam in his primitive state was without sin, yet he was only a natural man; but in regeneration the Spirit's work does not stop at cleansing us from sin, but makes us spiritual; gives us the life and mind of Christ; makes us partaker of the divine nature (2 Pet 1:4), wherein we receive double at the Lord's hand for all of our sins. We have heard the argument that there could be no regeneration without first a degeneration; and that regeneration carries us no higher than degeneration brought us down. (THIS IS WHAT JIM BROWN TEACHES) This is either weakness or simply begging the question. Generate means to produce, to cause to be, to cause to exist, etc. God first created or generated man, caused man to be or to exist. He was a natural production of a spotless character. When he sinned he degenerated, i.e. fell from morals, or character, or quality. Degenerate never means the loss of existence, or ceasing to be, but always means a decline in quality, i.e. to grow worse, to fall from a higher to a lower degree in quality or conduct. See Webster. When a man fell into sin he was still a natural man, but his nature is poisoned with sin, hence [he becomes] a worse man - he is degenerated; but when God saves him he does not only take away his sins but regenerates him, i.e. there is a new generation, a new production, a new creature. He is now born of the Spirit, hence spiritual. So you see, dear reader, that regeneration gives more than was lost in degeneration. TO SIMPLY RESTORE WHAT WAS LOST IN DEGENERATION

WOULD ONLY PLACE US BACK WHERE ADAM WAS BEFORE THE FALL. SIMPLY A REPLACEMENT WOULD NOT PREPARE ONE FOR HEAVEN, BUT WOULD ONLY PREPARE US FOR THE ELEMENT WHERE MAN WAS CREATED AND PLACED - THE GARDEN OF EDEN. Jesus says: "Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." He calls it "born of the Spirit." In regeneration all that was lost in Adam is restored, and the sinner is carried EVEN HIGHER THAN ADAM WAS; he is made spiritual; he is a new creature. "If any man be in Christ Jesus he is a new creature" - 2 Cor 5:17. NOTICE HE IS A NEW CREATURE, SOMETHING HE NEVER WAS BEFORE. There has been another creation. The first creation gave man a natural existence; the second a spiritual existence. The first is the old man; the second the new man". [Elder S.A. We could not listen to anymore for the errors he teaches are too defiling to the mind! But we have no need to listen to any more of his tapes to discern his teaching. Because, a man who can so blatantly explain away the plain teaching of scripture concerning the existence of demons (devils), and be deluded into believing that all babies are born innocent and advocates occult numerology and divorce . . . . CANNOT BE A MAN SENT FROM GOD! To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them! [Isaiah 8:20] P.S.
