- The class will be making Valentines for soldiers as homework and sharing stories and illustrations about perseverance with the school community. - Upcoming assignments include finishing an Egypt game book, math homework, and a curiosity challenge due Tuesday. - On Wednesday there will be a mock MCAS reading comprehension assessment and the class will learn about fractions in math club. - A simple machines test will take place on Thursday after reviewing earlier in the week.

Lubys class

We will be making Valentines for Soldiers this week as part of our homework! Supplies will be sent home. The fourth grade will share their perseverance illustrations and stories with the SSS community. Pictures will be hung in the front entrance area later this week. A few stories will be read via Voicethread at Fridays All School Meeting. Our class Voicethread is in process and will be completed later this week. You will have the opportunity to listen on-line! I will let you know! Curiosity Challenge illustrations, essays, and poems are due on Tuesday. *Please check and initial your childs planner each night. Your child should make sure his/her homework is completed and ready to return to school. Dont forget sneakers on Tuesday and records on Wednesday! Students will NOT be allowed to call home if they are forgottenas well as homework items.

Language Arts On Wed. we will have our first Mock MCAS ELA Reading Comprehension practice assessment. It should take the majority of the day. We will continue with Daily 3 and Guided Reading Groups. Writing

Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto This week in science we will be assessing our simple machine knowledge. On Tuesday we will play Simple Machine Jeopardy to review and play a simple machine board game if time allows. Thursday is the assessment. Study guides went home last Thursday and extra copies can be found on the class blog. I have been encouraging the kids to come see me if they have any questions on the material we covered. Class Tidbits!

The perseverance essays will be completed at home. In class, we will continue to use the Traditions piece and work to show opinions. If all goes well, we will work with poetry late in the week. Math Unit 6 assessments will take place Tuesday and Thursday. We will then review current topics and get ready for the MidYear Assessment next week.
EVERYDAY MATH FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line this year! As in past years, they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and selected homework answers. Social Studies This week we begin our South Region Project. It would be helpful to have any parents who are available to assist on Mondays from 2-3 PM and Wed. from 1:30 2:30 PM. We will need help setting up laptops as well as working with groups in their research. States and capitals information will be sent home on Wed.
