Original SMART Board Activity
Assignment 6.6
INSTRUCTIONS: In this assignment you will create an original SMART Board activity. This will help you learn to use all the tools in the SMART Notebook software. First, consider a topic from your academic content standards that you will teach in your future classroom. If needed, research the topic to find information that you can use to create the SMART Board activity. You have two options for creating the activity. 1. You can create an activity that you will use as an instructional tool. This activity must require student participation and collaboration between two or more students, between small groups of students, or between you and the whole class where individual students will participate in portions of the lesson. 2. If students are capable and they have 1:1 laptops with SMART Notebook software available, you can let students create a lesson. In this case, you will create your original activity as if you were a student in your future classroom. If you create the activity as a student, that will be participation enough. However, you must consider how you will let students present their completed work and collaborate with others after the activity has been created. Perhaps, students will exchange completed activities with classmates requiring classmates to do some research or a lesson from the Lesson Activity Toolkit. How will you be graded? Review the Technical and Other Requirements and SMART Board Activity rubric below as these will explain exactly what you must include in your activity. You also might find it helpful to refer to the Classroom Ideas in chapter 2 before beginning your activity. * How Do I Use the Lesson Activity Toolkit?
1. Click the Gallery tab on the sidebar of the SMART Notebook software. 2. Click Lesson Activity Toolkit 2.0 and then Activities. 3. Select two of the activities in the Lesson Activity Toolkit to include in your lesson. Each activity is self-explanatory. 4. Click on the question mark to see a description of the activity. 5. Click on Edit to begin creating your own activity. 6. These activities can be used to introduce a topic, review a topic, or assess student learning on a topic.
