This 4-day Resource Estimation course is co-presented by Snowden and Gemcom and has been designed to give you a clear understanding of the resource estimation process using Surpac. Participants will: Gain an overview of the resource estimation process Learn how to describe data using statistics Acquire an understanding of the fundamentals of resource estimation and how to apply them in practical estimation situations Learn the requirements for resource classification and how to practically apply them Get practical experience in estimation using Surpac software An overview of the resource estimation process The fundamentals of resource estimation The importance of geology and domaining Data validation and analysis Variography Methods of estimation, including inverse distance and ordinary kriging Model validation techniques Practical resource classification An introduction to advanced estimation techniques

The course covers the entire resource estimation process including:

Who should attend? This course is designed for geologists and mining engineers involved with or about to become involved with resource estimation. The course assumes a basic geological knowledge but does not assume any geostatistical knowledge. In order to maximise your understanding of the course content, you will need to have a basic understanding of Surpac file formats, macros, solids, geological database, and block modeling (except estimation concepts). Optional Surpac Refresher Day: If your Surpac knowledge is a bit rusty, it is suggested that you attend the Surpac refresher course with Gemcom on Monday 10 June/ Monday 14 October prior to attending the 4-day Resource Estimation using Surpac course.

Our consultant will guide you to use due process while you work on your own data. Distance-mentoring You and the Snowden consultant are each in your own offices on your own computers. The distance-mentoring is live with you being able to talk to each other and see each others computer screens. The Snowden consultant: Will guide you to use due process while you work on your data Can view live displays of your computer screen while you work Can show you live displays and examples on their computer screen Can give you a live review while you work The advantages of distance mentoring are that there are no travel or accommodation costs and the mentoring is only charged PER CONTACT HOUR. The per contact hour gives you a stricter control of your budget as you only pay for the time our consultant is working with you - you do not pay for the time that you are working on your own. Mentoring at a Snowden office Snowden supplies an office for you to work in. You bring your own laptop, software and the data you would like to work on. You only pay per contact-hour of mentoring: You only pay for the hours that you request the consultant to guide you. This helps you control your budget and allows you to have guidance over an extended period of time without the big price tag! The cost is only per contact hour.

Mentoring at your office/site This is charged as a full-day of on-site mentoring. The client needs to cover the consultants travel and accommodation costs, and supply a suitable room for the mentoring.
