A. AUDITORY INTERACTION
SIDE VIEW
Upon entering into the space, visitors set off sensors placed within the overhead beams, triggering a cacophony of sounds and smells of the kitchen. For example, baking bread, clattering silverware, background chatter, etc.
B. When visitors sit at the kitchen table to take a closer look at the flour sacks, they will discover that each chair speaks to them in the voice of a family member, giving their personal opinions on activities and changes that took place within the kitchen.
A. As they journey farther into the room, a spotlight will alight on the woman of the house. She will begin speaking, welcoming visitors into her space. When she has finished, the phone will ring, inviting listeners to answer and hear stories recorded by Manhattan residents who were in the community during the 1930s.
C. Further exploration will bring visitors to the cooking station, where they have the opportunity to read through authentic Manhattan recipes and create their own based upon what is available in the cabinets and ice box.
