Verbal finesse for the classic plot

Participant Perception
Your participant has an object in his fist. Without any gimmicks you can declare the exact location of the hidden object.

Effect
Telepathy. Mentalist can know the position of a hidden object.

You Need
Confidence and words

How?
This play was popularized for Mr. Brown and becomes popular since he made it famous. I think that simplicity is key in our art. Sometimes procedures becomes extremely complex and difficult to follow and personally I use this effect for that classic moment read my mind when I dont want create a too serious performance and just give something fun. I even perform this piece for childrens very easy, haha.

There`s a lot of gimmick versions, but honesty my favorite way is just do it with a borrowed item ( watches , rings, keys , something fragile) without fear to fail.

This idea comes from a experience in a performance. I use all the tools that I have in my mind to really get the information about the location of the hidden object.

I use the tells from Prevaricator `s DVD by Patrick Redford , the Bryan Reynolds excellent BOTH technique . I was in my fourth phase (I use five with a iForce kicker) and still I dont have a clue where the hidden ring was. So I came up on the spot with this verbal finesse. First of all , you need to categorize your participant . 1. Passive Participant: Hecklers, just without too much connection with the experience. Basically participant who want to see you fail. 2. Active Participant: The ones who desire success in your performance .

Ok. I think that the right hand.. contains the object

Now, watch carefully and imagine yourself doing this. In the .. moment, just look carefully to your participant remembering in which category he fits.

Now, in that case, I knew that my participant was an active one. When I said I think that the right hand I saw a tiny expression of happiness, so I go for it and just go with my feeling.

If I saw a little of surprise or even fear , my line is :

Ok. I think that the right hand.. is empty. Open your left hand now And direct the attention to the left hand and reveal the object. Now, if you participant is on the Passive Participant side, all is in reverse. If you watch a tiny smile with eye muscle contraction , probable the right hand is empty , so say that and direct the attention to the left handTry it and share with me your experiences. So far is a tool in my mind that serves me well. Have fun ! Pablo Amir, 2010
