forthestoragenodesare1TBand2TBlicensedrespectively.The utilitynodeprovidesessential
internalservicesfortheserver(forexample,Administratorserver,cronjob,DomainNameServer
[DNS],Externalauthentication,NetworkTimeProtocol[NTP]andWebaccess).Becauseutilitynodes
arededicatedtorunningtheseessentialservices,theycannotbeusedtostorebackups.The
acceleratornodeisaspecializednodethatutilizesNDMPinordertoprovidedataprotectionforNAS
filers(forexample,EMCCelerra,NetworkAppliance)andNovellNetWareservers.

Asinglenodeserversoftwareinstallationcombinesallfeatures andfunctionsofUtilityandStorage
nodesinoneunit.Thisservertypemustbeinstalledinacustomerprovidedlocation.TheAvamar
systemcanefficientlyreplicatedatafromoneAvamarservertoanotheronascheduledbasis.This
ensurescompletedatarecoveryiftheprimarybackupAvamarserverislost.Singlenodeservers
requireareplicationtarget.
