Standpipe Reference Guide

Individuals qualified to perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe and hose systems include holders of Certificates of Fitness for Standpipe Systems as well as licensed Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractors, Master Plumbers, engineers, and others. Standpipe systems must be inspected weekly and monthly, with pressure regulating devices, piping, hose connections, cabinets, and hose storage devices inspected quarterly and annually. Testing includes operating alarm devices, hoses, nozzles, pressure control valves, and drainage quarterly or annually, with pressure reducing valves and hydrostatic and flow tests every 5 years. Valves and hose connections must be maintained annually.

MFSPC Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractor License with C of F for Standpipe System. MP Master Plumber License (MP) with C of F for Standpipe System. 1 Limited to residential occupancies 30 sprinkler heads or less with out booster pump. 2 S-95 Supervision for Fire alarm Systems & other related systems. 3 Follow testing requirement. 4 Record must be maintained to be checked annually. 5 Must be performed once annually by licensed contractor.
