Information Session for Graduating Seniors of the Loyola Schools

Leong Hall Auditorium 4:30 - 6:00 pm 18 June 2012

Mr. Eduardo Jose E. Calasanz

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

What does GRADUATION mean?

It means that the university grants an academic degree to a student who has successfully completed all the requirements for that degree.

GRADUATION
Successfully Participating Completing Receiving Receiving in the = = = the = the the Degree Graduation Diploma Requirements Ceremonies

For graduation, you, as a student must:

PASS all your courses
Core Majors Non-Academic (PE and NSTP)

PASS your other requirements

(OJT/Practicum, etc.)

Obtain a SENIOR QPI of 2.00 Be cleared of all discipline cases/sanctions

Notes
You must take the same NSTP 1 and NSTP 2. If one is LTS and the other CWTS, you will not be allowed to graduate. For Athletes and Athletic Managers: Make sure you do not have INC or * grades for any PE or NSTP. A grade of W has the same consequences as an F. All courses required for a minor must be completed by the time you graduate.

Graduation Honors
Cumulative QPI of: 3.87 - 4.00 = Summa Cum Laude 3.70 - 3.86 = Magna Cum Laude 3.50 - 3.69 = Cum Laude 3.35 - 3.49 = Honorable Mention To be eligible for Graduation Distinction, students must have completed a minimum of 80 percent of the total number of units required for graduation in their program in the Loyola Schools and only resident credits shall be included in the computation.

What happens if you dont nish the requirements?

If a student has successfully passed all course requirements but does not reach the 2.00 required senior QPI, he receive a Transcript of Records saying:

The student...
DOES NOT receive the degree. DOES NOT receive a diploma. DOES NOT graduate. DOES NOT participate in the graduation ceremonies.

If the student had already been placed on academic probation, there is no appeal. If the student had never been placed on academic probation, the student may appeal to the Standards Committee to be allowed to take additional courses in order to increase his/her senior QPI. If the appeal is turned down or the conditions are not met, the student does not graduate.

If a student fails a course or has not completed all his required courses and fails to reach the required senior year QPI of 2.00, the student must appeal either: A - for probation, or B - to nish course requirements The Standards Committee will decide on the conditions for possible graduation. If the student had already been placed on academic probation, there is no appeal to be allowed to graduate. The student may, however, be allowed to appeal to nish course requirements.

If you are in danger of not graduating or of not graduating as scheduled, inform your parents as soon as possible.
