MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH

I was recently reading an article titled, "Top 5 Ways to Team up with Your Child's School" in an educational magazine. The article cites the following strategies to work with school to support your child's education: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Keep in touch with teachers. Join the Parent-Teacher Organization. Share your talents. Go to school events. Volunteer your time.

I couldn't help but notice that several of these strategies support attending parent-teacher conferences--which are quickly approaching! I truly hope you take this opportunity to team with us in order to provide your child a quality education. If you have not yet done so, please be sure to schedule a conference with your child's teacher.

COUNSELORS CORNER ~ Sandy Husted~

I often wish that everyone, especially parents, could witness the magic that I have observed within the walls of Beagle Elementary. They would see, as I have, dedication, love, caring, learning, and growth. We frequently hear distressing news, some of which involves schools. However, instead of concentrating on the negative, I would rather fill my bucket with the fact that there are many remarkable teachers who are dedicated, conscientious, extraordinary educators. At Beagle Elementary, I see bucket fillers who truly care about each child. I would like to share a story of a teacher who was seated next to the CEO of a large company at a dinner party. The CEO was impressed with the teacher and asked, Why have you spent all these years teaching? What have you made? The teacher responded, Ill tell you what I make every day. I make kids feel better. I make kids feel loved. I make them feel that learning is fun. I make kids wonder and appreciate. I make them appreciate the wonder of books. I make them see the good in others. I make them learn to listen and respect others. More than anything, I make a difference. Thats what I make. As conferences approach, I encourage parents and guardians to be bucket fillers and thank the adults that interact with your child (children) for making a difference. Leaders are readers, no doubt about that. Reading helps you learn about whatever it is you want to know about. You can study up on an exotic travel destination, or new method of doing business. There will always be those willing to share their knowledge with you, and this gives you a jump on the situation so you can have as much information as possible. Reading and learning really are the ticket to getting around the globe.
