The 4 Stages to Reach the Truth
By Shaykh Muhammad ibn Sa'eed Ar-Rslan
1. The issue is described as being the truth.
2. Evidence r!m the "uran# the Sunnah # the $%ma' and narrati!ns ! the
&r!'het's c!m'ani!ns su''!rt this issue #and 'r!ves it(s legitimate.
). The evidence must be underst!!d c!rrectly# *hereas its intended meaning
r!m the "uran# Sunnah# $%ma+ and narrati!ns ! the c!m'ani!ns are assured.
,. The issue is 'ut int! 'ractice 'r!'erly r!m clear 'r!!# the same *ay the
Sala used t! 'ractice it.
Here's an example.
Stage 1- A caller r!m the 'e!'le ! kn!*ledge says - . $t's sunnah !r a man t! stand
sh!ulder t! sh!ulder and ankle t! ankle in the 'rayer..
Stage 2- /hen asked !r his 'r!!# 0e says# . Bukhari menti!ned a narrati!n !n An-
1u'man ibn Basheer 2Radi Allahu anhu3 said- Ater the 'rayer the &r!'het 2SallAllahu
alayhi *a salam3 turned and aced the 'e!'le and said three times# . Establish y!ur
r!*s 4By Allah- either y!u establish the ranks c!rrectly in the 'rayer !r Allah *ill
cause y!ur hearts be divided.. 1u'man said# . $ sa* the man *ith us %!in his sh!ulder
ne5t his br!ther's and his ankle ne5t his br!ther's. 2Abu 6a*ud 7723 graded as being
authentic by Shaykh Al-Albani.
Stage 3- 0!* d!es a 'ers!n understand this c!rrectly8 /hen the heel is menti!ned it
c!mes t! mind that it(s the b!tt!m ! the !!t. 0!*ever# h!* d!es a 'ers!n %!in it and
*hat is intended by the ankle8 $t's said- Based !n the hadith ! 1u'man ibn Basheer
the ankle b!ne is *hat's intended
Stage 4: A man kn!*s this is the sunnah ! 'rayer and he *ants t! 'ractice it *ith the
'ers!n standing ne5t t! him. The man ne5t t! him d!esn(t kn!* its Sunnah and is
una*are ! the narrati!n. There!re every time the man tries t! %!in his ankle *ith the
man ne5t t! him he m!ves his !!t. $s this a''lying the c!rrect understanding !r
s!und evidence8 Sh!uld he try *ith him h!'ing that he *ill bec!me a*are ! the
Sunnah8 1!netheless# i this man d!esn(t kn!* this Sunnah# he kee's his intenti!n
'ure# and st!'s trying t! %!in his ankle b!ne ne5t t! his br!ther. Then ater the 'rayer
he teaches him8
0ence it's necessary# t! a''ly the 'r!'er understanding ! the acti!n# s! that it !ccurs
the *ay it *as intended r!m Allah. $t isn(t en!ugh t! merely say that s!mething is the
truth# then it bec!mes the truth# and then the 'ers!n can't any 'r!duce clear '!! !r
his claim. 9erily# it(s a must t! understand the evidence as underst!!d by the Sala.
M!re!ver# it's n!t en!ugh t! sim'ly have a c!rrect c!m'rehensi!n *ith s!und 'r!!+
until the acti!n is d!ne in the same ashi!n the Sala did it. There mustn(t be any
increase !r decrease in the deed. $ a 'ers!n stays a*ay and errs in the !urth stage# he
*ill never be able t! reach the truth the *ay Allah intended and is 'leased *ith.
