At Synthotech we pride ourselves on our capability

developments are targeted to reduce operating

At Synthotech we use 3D CAD software that can
download directly to CNC machinery for prototyping
components. The components are then manufactured
and assembled in our facility in the UK.

CCTV system for gas mains. Procedure completed without the need to isolate the
gas supply.

Gas valve exchange system for service pipes. Procedure completed without the

CAPEX
A system that determines if a gas service pipe is carrying gas or not ('live or dead').
Capable of removing cap or plug ends. Procedure completed without the need to
isolate the gas supply in 'riser' system.
I-SEAL
Gas leakage repair system for threaded pipe joints.
Procedure completed without the need to isolate the gas supply.
SEALBACK
A pipeline replacement system for metallic gas mains. Replacement with Polyethylene
pipe (PE) is carried out remotely by a live mains transfer process. Used for replacing
sections of mains from side-streets into the main carriageway significantly reducing the
need for excavation and traffic management systems.
STARGLAND
A polyethylene (PE) pipe tracing system for gas service and main pipelines.
Procedure completed without the need to isolate the gas supply in the main pipeline.
SERVIFLEX
A flexible pipe insertion system for the replacement of gas service pipes. It has a
unique capability to negotiate 90 degree tight radius bends. Pipe can be carried
from the existing gas meter position.

The SynthoCam CCTV system is a versatile safe and
efficient method of inspecting mains, specifically developed
for the gas market. The system is available in modular
components for a range of applications. Entry and exit
from the main is achieved using under pressure equipment
that enables the camera to be launched and retrieved
under controlled 'live' gas conditions, without the need to
isolate or interrupt the gas supply. Approved to UK gas
industry standards for use up to 2bar operating pressure.

The Meter Control Exchange (M-CEX) system is a
versatile safe and efficient method of exchanging
leaking valves from gas pipework systems under
controlled 'live' gas conditions. The system uses a
range of rigid and flexible stoppers applicable to
metallic and polyethylene (PE) pipes. A range of kits
within the size range

are available.

Pipe stoppers
The Cap and Plug Exchange (CaPEX

) system is a versatile
safe and efficient method of removing caps and plugs
from gas pipework systems and replacing them with an
emergency control valve (ECV). The procedure is completed
without the need to isolate the riser system. It can also be
used to determine if a gas pipe is live or dead.
The system offers two methods of exchange:
The CaPEX

tool comprises a plastic bodied valve and

gland assembly and is approved to UK gas industry
standards for use up to 75mbar.
The CaPEX

bag system is a transparent laminated

plastic bag system and is approved to UK gas industry
standards for use up to 50mbar.
CaPEX

is an easy to use system that has been specifically

designed using our unique Stargland gas seal technology
and is fully integrated to work with our meter control
valve exchange system (M-CEX) for use with all types
of gas valve.

The I-Seal system is a versatile safe and efficient method of repairing leaking threaded
joints on gas pipework systems. The system uses an anaerobic sealant that is injected into
the leak path of the threaded joint. The delivery system comprises of an I-SEAL clip and
non-return valve. This assembly is connected onto the leaking joint and drilled to a prescribed
depth. The sealant is injected into the leak path using a high-pressure hand pump.
Applications:
Can be used on

The Sealback

system is a safe and efficient

gas controlled 'live' main replacement
method for traffic sensitive locations or
where access onto the main is restricted.
Replacement is undertaken from a remote
location (10m - 13m) to where it intersects
its parent pipeline, usually from a side road
into the main carriageway.
The principal of the operation is to insert the
new polyethylene (PE) pipe into the old iron
main. All activities associated with the live
transfer process are accessed through
a 'glanding box' that enables a gas controlled operation. A two-part nose cone is installed
onto the leading end of the PE pipe. The outer part of the nose cone is used
to decommission the iron main as the new PE pipe is inserted to its required location.
The primary gas seal is achieved by the introduction of an annular sealant. The new PE
pipe is commissioned by the withdrawal of the inner section of the nose cone.
Applications:
Approved to UK gas industry standards
for use up to 75mbar operating pressure.
Replacement diameters: 55mm in 3'',
75mm in 4'' and 125mm in 6'' metallic
pipes.
Maximum insertion length 13m.
Benefits:

The Stargland system is a versatile safe and efficient
'live access tool' that enables tracing of polyethylene
(PE) gas pipework systems. Tracing of PE pipes is
achieved by inserting a tracing wire and sonde
through the 'live access tool'. The tracer wire and
sonde is energised by use of a standard above
ground signal generator and located by a cable
avoidance tool. The 'live access tool' has been
specifically designed using our unique Stargland
gas seal technology.
Applications:
Can be connected onto through wall
house entry fittings up to 32mm diameter.
Can be connected onto many types of
emergency control valves (ECV).
Can be connected directly onto 16mm,
20mm, 25mm, 32mm diameter PE pipes.
Can be connected onto PE top tapping
tees for tracing of pipe systems up to
180mm diameter.
Can trace up to 50m for gas service pipes
and 100m for mains.
Approved to UK gas industry standards
for use up to 75mbar.

The Serviflex system is a versatile, safe and
efficient gas service pipe replacement system.
It is capable of relining aged metallic pipework
that contains short radius bends (elbows) from the
meter position, inside the property, to a convenient
external location. Insertion is achieved by use of
a dual wall, gas grade, polyethylene (PE) flexible
liner. Installation of the liner is achieved by the use
of Synthotech's specifically designed tooling that
enables the liner to be temporarily stiffened during
the insertion process. This is achieved without
compromise to the long term strength of the pipe
or flow capacity.
Applications:
Approved to UK gas industry standards
for use up to 75mbar.
Used for relining 1'' metallic pipes.
Maximum insertion length 16.5m.
Benefits:
Avoids the costs associated with gas
meter re-runs, typically 100 - 250.
