MARKETING SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
I. Basic Function:
The primary responsibility of the Marketing Specialist is to design, proofread and handle
the print production for credit union wide member newsletter, Safari Club newsletter,
Forward Bound newsletter, Annual Report and other promotional pieces (including
branch collateral, Business Relationships support material, etc). In addition, they must
ensure that promotions meet and are within regulatory compliance. The Marketing
Specialist will also use the credit unions marketing database (the MCIF system) in order
to produce miscellaneous reports and provide analytical support to the Marketing &
Business Relationships functions. They will also be required to cross-train on other
departmental functions to support the workflow process.
II. Essential Functions
Responsibilities include soliciting content input, writing and editing copy, design,
and coordinating printing of quarterly SummitUp member newsletter. Work with
third party vendors as needed. Assist with the online edition of this publication as
necessary.
Coordinate internal meetings, write and edit copy, design, and coordinate distribution
of the Annual Report and other related materials as needed.
Design and coordinate the printing of the quarterly Safari Club and Forward Bound
youth newsletters, create associated promotional and in-branch material
Fulfill branch requests for posters and in-branch material in support of credit union
goals
Work with Marketing Assistant to update brochure artwork and coordinate printing
for brochures as indicated by inventory levels
Assist with the design, printing coordination and distribution of monthly promotional
materials as necessary including: statement inserts, branch collateral material, direct
mail, Business Relationships posters, sponsorship ads and other support material
Assist with the resizing and trafficking of newspaper ads as necessary, and follow up
with publications and media buyer as required.
Assist with the writing, design, editing and coordination of community sponsorship
ads and newsletter articles for member companies/ partner organizations as identified
by Senior Management and Marketing Manager
Establish and monitor project timelines to meet deadlines for mailing marketing
materials to members and assist with the printing and delivery of collateral materials
to branches to support promotions
Provide assistance to the Marketing and Business Relationships Team to support
departmental goals
Prepare purchase orders and approve invoices as necessary
Proofread all appropriate printed pieces and ensure that marketing collateral materials
are accurate and comply with regulatory guidelines
III. Other Functions
Use the MCIF system to determine, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of
various marketing programs and promotions as backup to the Marketing Data
Specialist
Keep current with knowledge needed to facilitate MCIF system and generate system
reports to support Marketing, Business Relationships, and credit union wide
initiatives
Function as the backup to the Marketing Communication Specialist on the Video Net
Director system (company-wide closed circuit branch TV system). Be proficient at
creation, scheduling and broadcasting using the Video Net Director.
Assist with company events such as Grand Openings, press conferences, etc. as
required
Assist with the fulfillment of member incentives and rewards
Assist Marketing Data Specialist with branch audit visits and follow-up to maintain
consistent marketing messages in all branches.
Fulfill marketing requests to support company wide initiatives via marketing
department project request processes
Complete other projects assigned by the Marketing Manager and Vice President of
Marketing and Business Relationship
IV. Qualifications
Knowledge
BA or BS in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing or General Business
Management or at least 2 years prior marketing experience required
Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop or comparable
design software
Experience or knowledge of web design is preferred
Computer proficiency in Windows Operating Systems: Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Outlook
Ability to operate and maintain poster printer, scanner, color/copier printer, and fax
machine

PC skills required, Microsoft Products preferred

Corporate office setting, occasional travel to vendors and branch locations
