Why A Framework or Model
A Model could
standardize the professions goals and practice;
guide and direct practitioners in program design;
implementation, and evaluation;
provide a unified direction/purpose;
offer direction-setting in counselor preparation;
guarantee equity in services in public and private schools;
provide a structure that will inform the public about the
importance of guidance and counseling; and,
define counselor competencies necessary to run the programs
recognize the counselors relevance in the educational system.
